wild and wounded...

one of the best thing about working in an oil field in the heart of Borneo island, is you get to see (and eat) fresh wild-not-endangered animals... in this case, the guys from Well Instrument Department cooked-up these wild catfish in the back of their workshop... it's not everyday they've had a cooking-spree at the workshop, so to me, that's like once-in-a-year-if-you're-lucky kinda deal... so i wash my hand, and ready to chow..!!
they guys cooked them in two style, deep-fried and yellow herbs style... and it's all good..!! the texture of the meat is much firm-er than those commercially bred in the cities (yes folks, some city in Indonesia love to eat catfish...), not too big in size, crisp, and the meat taste more rich and juicy..!!
and to compliment the crispy fishes, some boiled papaya leaves and fresh workshop-made sambals.. with super spicy bird's eye chili, garlic, shallot, and sweet basils... all grown on the back of the workshop...

this is what's on my paper-plate... rice, eight catfish, a handfull of papaya leaves, and only a spoon full of sambals... that combo sends me to the hospital the next day with a wounded intestine..!! but guess what, i'm still gonna ask them to have a cook-out the next time i visit..
